Animalomorphia
Marée noire, pollution, déchets,
réchauffement climatique, pêche intensive :
je suis née avec tous ces mots-là
et surtout toutes ces images-là.
La planète bleue est malade, les océans
et ceux qui les peuplent depuis le début
de la création sont ravagés,
et cette maladie s’appelle : l’Homme.
Alors j’ai mis les Hommes dans la peau des Animaux
parce que nous sommes enfermés dans notre statut
comme nous sommes enfermés dans notre peau.
La série s’intitule « Animalomorphia »,
en référence à la notion d’anthropomorphisme.
En effet, les rôles sont inversés :
sur mes clichés, les humains se retrouvent victimes
de la pollution, des déchets, de la pêche,
comme le sont les animaux.
Or souvent, quand nous regardons des animaux,
nous avons tendance à les associer
à des sentiments humains.
Mon souhait serait que le spectateur,
en voyant ces photographies,
soit troublé et ait envie de mettre un terme,
le plus vite possible, à cette mort annoncée
des différentes espèces
en diminuant drastiquement son empreinte létale
et en adoptant une attitude responsable et respectueuse…enfin.
Les êtres vivants sont nés dans les océans
il y a des millions d’années ;
il ne faudrait pas que les mers deviennent leur tombeau.
Cette dualité homme-animal m’a été inspirée
par une phrase d’Alphonse de Lamartine
qui disait déjà au XIXe siècle :
« on n’a pas deux coeurs, un pour les animaux
et un pour les humains. On a un coeur ou on n’en a pas ».
Dans le cadre d'une exposition,
j'imagine une scénographie aquatique,
reprenant le flux et le reflux de la mer,
les photos apparaissant ou disparaissant
au gré des vagues....
une installation immersive et sonore
qui renforce le sentiment d'identification
à la cause animale.
Oil spill, pollution, waste, global warming,
intensive fishing : I was born with all these words
and especially all these images.
The blue planet is sick, the oceans
and those who populate them from the beginning
of the creation are ravaged,
and this disease is called: Man.
Therefore I put Men in the skin of Animals
because we are locked into our status
as we are locked into our skin.
This serie is entitled "Animalomorphia",
in reference to the notion of anthropomorphism.
Indeed, the tables are turned:
in my pictures, the human beings find themselves victims
of the pollution, the waste, the fishing,
just as animals are.
I made this choice because usually,
when we look at animals,
we tend to associate them with human feelings.
So, my wish would be that the spectator,
by seeing these photos, can be disturbed and astonished and bitterly resent the suffering of the animals.
Then, Man would be able to put an end,
as quickly as possible,
to this predictable death of the various species
by decreasing drastically his lethal imprint
and by adopting a responsible and respectful attitude finally.
Life was born in the oceans millions of years ago;
seas should not become a huge grave.
This duality man-animal was inspired to me
by a sentence of Alphonse de Lamartine
which already told in the XIXth century:
" we don’t have two hearts, one for animals
and one for human beings.
We have a heart or we don’t have one ».
in the context of an exhibition,
i imagine an aquatic scenography,
as the flow and flowback of the sea,
photos appearing or disappearing
depending on the waves....
an immersive and audible installation
that strengthens the sense of identification
to the animal cause.
